Southland Urban Legends

We've all heard the stories, tales so outrageous they can't possibly be true, but which everyone seems to know about and half believe. This is the thread to share your favorite Los Angeles urban legends, where you first heard them and if you're a true believer or a skeptic.
For example (and all or none of the following may be true!)... did you know all the waiters at The Pantry are ex-cons? That a strange reptilian race lives in tunnels beneath downtown? There's a treasure buried near the Hollywood Bowl? Or maybe you have a friend-of-a-friend who works at Cedars-Sinai and was there the night Rod Stewart, Elton John and Richard Gere all came in complaining of intestinal distress?
Please share your favorite local urban legends!
