Profile
Kim is the creator of 1947project, the crime-a-day time travel blog that spawned Esotouric's popular crime bus tours, including Pasadena Confidential, The Real Black Dahlia and East Side Babylon. When the third generation Angeleno isn't combing old newspapers for forgotten scandals, she's editing Scram (a journal of unpopular culture) and books like Bubblegum Music is the Naked Truth, Lost in the Grooves and an oral history of the cult band Neutral Milk Hotel, or posting to her grandparents' video-blog. Her campaign to save the historic 76 Balls from destruction resulted in ConocoPhillips agreeing to donate the gas station signs to museums nationwide, and provided tools and tactics for her campaign seeking to protect Los Angeles libraries from budget cuts. Kim's "publicity lite" agency, which promotes all of these concepts, is Explosive PR. With her husband Richard Schave, Kim conceived of the LAVA community as an extension of their work with the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk, which they managed and put into a non-profit in 2009.
