Detective’s Casebook: Profiling Serial Bombers & Mothers’ Burning Rage

The Los Angeles Visionaries Association, Esotouric and Dr. Jay Vargas invite you to the Cal State Los Angeles teaching crime lab for an afternoon’s inquiry into the history and practice of forensic science in Southern California, in support of new research coming out of the Criminalistics Department.

Come spend an afternoon exploring the history of true crime investigations in Southern California, and the 21st century possibilities for new innovations in forensic science.

Back by popular demand, our featured presenter is Arson/Bomb Investigator Ed Nordskog, recently retired from LASD. Ed will give two talks, answer your burning questions and sign copies of his books.

Presentation #1 – Ed has long been a presenter for the FBI on bombers and bombing histories. He has amassed dozens of case histories of bombers and serial bombers, which will be presented in his upcoming seventh book.

Presentation #2 – Case studies in mothers who murder their children by fire, including two recent cases for which Ed testified in court. These cases are intense and disturbing, but of high interest, and the presentation will avoid the use of overly disturbing photographs.

Copies of Ed’s books Fire Death Scene Investigation (the fastest selling book in criminal justice), Fire Raisers, Freaks and Fiends: Obsessive Arsonists in the California Foothills, Torchered Minds: Case Histories of Notorious Serial Arsonists and Incendiary Devices: Investigation and Analysis will be available for purchase and signing.
