The \t\tLos Angeles Police Historical Society Museum is located in the 1925 \t\tHighland Park Police Station, which has been salvaged and restored to \t\tits original Renaissance Revival style and, today, is a registered \t\tNational Historic landmark. Opened in 2001, the museum shares the rich \t\thistory of the LAPD from its beginnings in 1869 to the 21st<\/sup> century.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Visitors can tour the station, which showcases private collections and \t\thistorical memorabilia dating back to the late 1800s, and use their own \t\tcameras to create \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Booking Photos\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of their favorite \u00e2\u20ac\u02dccrook\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 in the \t\thistoric jail. Outdoors, visitors of all ages \u00e2\u20ac\u201c from toddlers to senior \t\tcitizens \u00e2\u20ac\u201c can climb into a retired police helicopter\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6and even try on \t\tpolice gear.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This year, the museum will also pay tribute to the first policewoman in \t\tthe United States \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Alice Stebbins Wells, who joined the LAPD on \t\tSeptember 12, 1910. John Buntin, bestselling author of LA Noir<\/em> (and LAVA Visionary), \t\twill also be on hand to celebrate Museums of the Arroyo Day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
